Book Club

Description

Initiated as a program offered to St. John's members, Tuesday night monthly Book Club began in 2007 and is still going strong. We meet and discuss books of varied genres, time periods, styles, and authored by writers from, literally, all over the globe. Although using church members as its base membership, we have reached out to include family and friends from our community. Presently the group consists of 22 members, both male and female. We prepare for each book by reviewing research on the author's background provided by the group leader, who also furnishes questions that drive our 1 1/2 hour discussions. We meet at the group leader's home where an informal environment also encourages socializing after the discussion ends and the enjoyment of homemade treats provided by members. To date, we have read 50 books, enriched our St. John's connections, and even found new friends.
